2012 MESA FilmFest

The MESA FilmFest was started in 1983 by Ellen-Fairbanks D. Bodman of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The first FilmFest showed 11 films, and now screens over 36 documentaries and 4 to 6 feature films annually. Mrs. Bodman was responsible for creating the prestigious film and video collection, now known as the Ellen-Fairbanks D. Bodman Collection of Middle East and Islamic World Films housed at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Media Resource Library.

The 2012 MESA FilmFest Committee seeks submissions in video format for the FilmFest 2012 to be screened during the Annual Meeting in Denver, Colorado, November 17-20. All entries will be reviewed by members of the FilmFest Committee and coordinated by Nadia Hlibka. Films should be in video (NTSC) format or DVD (must be region-free), also playable as NTSC in English or with English subtitles. Include complete credit information: title, country or area filmed, date of completion, running time, director, producer, distributor (if applicable), a brief (25-50 word) synopsis and all current contact information (name, address, state, country, zip, email, phone and fax numbers). Submission of entries to the Committee for review implies permission to screen the film if accepted, and that all appropriate copyright and authorizations have been secured. Send all materials to be previewed to: Nadia Hlibka, MESA Secretariat, 1219 N. Santa Rita Ave., The University of Arizona, Tucson AZ 85721 (520 621-7073; nhlibka@email.arizona.edu).
Submission deadline: June 15, 2012.

The FilmFest runs concurrently and continuously through the MESA conference: November 17-20 at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel in Denver, Colorado. Entry to the FilmFest is part of conference registration. You must be a registered attendee with a badge to gain entrance.

For information, contact Nadia Hlibka, FilmFest Coordinator (520-621-7073; nhlibka@email.arizona.edu).
