Freedom of Speech Challenged in Academia
PEN Newsfeed, PEN Center USA, March 21, 2005
http://penusa.org/go/news/comments/256/

This article speaks about a number of recent incidents in which freedom of speech has been challenged in the American academe. The article focuses on Chancellor Joel Klein’s decision to ban Professor Khalidi from participating in New York City K-12 teacher’s workshops. PEN USA expresses concern that this incident represents an increasing limitation of free exchange of ideas in the classroom in the US. Of note, Pen USA works to protect the rights of novelists, poets, playwrights, historians, and other writers around the world. (back to academic freedom)
