“No, It’s Not Anti-Semitic”

In response to Harvard President Lawrence Summers' 2002 statement that any criticism of Israel is anti-semitic, Judith Bulter contends that his statement mutes criticism of a state’s actions through fear of being labeled racist. Summers’ declaration misconstrued political ideology as cultural identity and failed to acknowledge that Jews themselves hold varying opinions on the actions of Israel.(Back to academic freedom)
